Senna Pods

             Senna pods are used as a purgative due to anthraquinone derivatives. Pods do not contain mucilage and are easy to handle for the commercial extraction of the anthraquinone glycosides. Sennosides are extracted as their calcium salts. The pods are preferred to leaves, as they have less gripping action.
